 There
are some biographies of me online, but I think is more important is that
you get a mayor who will do your bidding.
Someone who wants to listen to you, and does not have
hidden agenda of his own.
This mayoral election is not about élites or
even issues—it is about putting power back in the hands of Wellingtonians.
The official part is this: I was born in Hong Kong in 1972, and maintain
dual Kiwi–British nationality.
I went to school here in Wellington, and have lived
in Newtown, Kilbirnie and Rongotai.
I graduated from Vic with three degrees, including a
bachelor’s in law and a master’s in commerce. I run three companies:
Jack Yan & Associates, Lucire
and the Medinge Group.
I was the first digital
typeface designer in New Zealand and one of the first internet publishers.
I co-wrote Beyond Branding, wrote Typography
and Branding, and contributed most recently to Nation Branding:
Concepts and Country Perspectives. You

I speak English, Cantonese, Taishanese, and French.
I read Swedish and attempt to speak it with a bad accent.
